Seeds from Kivu

Survivors of war find resilience in motherhood and resistance.

Seeds from Kivu is a deeply moving documentary exploring the strength of survivors in a war-torn region. As these women grapple with trauma, they discover resilience through motherhood and defy the cycle of violence. Directed by Néstor López and Carlos Valle. Screening on 22 March 2025 at 12h00 at Euzhan Palcy.
In Kivu, one of the world’s most violent regions, a group of women arrives at Panzi Hospital after surviving gang rape by guerrillas controlling the region’s mineral resources.

During their psychological treatment prior to reintegration, they face the profound dilemma of accepting the children born from these assaults—finding in the challenges of motherhood a powerful means of resistance.
