Eyes Full of Hope

A refugee children’s perspective, blending fears, dreams, and resilience.

Eyes Full of Hope is a poignant, child-led animated film offering a rare glimpse into the minds of refugee children. Through their own narratives, they express fears, dreams, and the hope that remains despite displacement. Directed by Somaya Qanbari. Screening on 22 March 2025 at 12h00 at Euzhan Palcy.
We are made of stories, and children have a very special way of drawing a line between fiction and reality—a way that mixes fears and hope.

This film was created by the refugee community from the new Mavrovouni camp in Lesvos during an animation workshop for Open Camp – a new narrative from children in refugee camps. Their films serve as voices that are often unheard and overlooked by mainstream media.

These are children from different backgrounds and countries, united by a shared refugee experience, and within their stories, a powerful political message emerges.
